Installing the DVR on a Network At the DVR In order for the Capture DVR function successfully on a LAN or WAN, you must follow these steps. Every setup is different and may require additional support or setup. Go to Setup on the DVR and click on the Authority tab. You will need to setup a remote user and provide an authority level and permissions. You can now go to the Remote tab and click on the Setup Network button. Once the new window comes up, right click on icon under the LAN or High-Speed Internet heading. Go to Properties and click. Now highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click on the properties button. You will now click on the Use the following IP Address button and then enter the IP address and Subnet Mask as given by the IT person on-site or an address that you are using with the router. Once you click the OK button, you will return to the networking window, which you can close. This will return you to the DVR setup screen and the DVR is now ready for remote access. If you need to access the DVR from outside the internal network, you will need to forward four ports through the router to access the DVR. They are 80, 443, 8016 and 10019. These must all be TCP only. At the Remote PC You will now go to the remote PC and load in the software marked Base. Follow the onscreen instructions and at the end of the install, you can assign one IBank for local recording. Your remote PC must be capable of supporting a 1024x768 screen resolution at 32-bit colour. As well, your PC must have an 8Mb or higher video card and for Windows NT, you must have the RAS service installed and running. Start the Capture Base software by going to Start>All Programs>IDR Series>SmartBase. Click on Setup and choose Local Setup. Go to the Remote tab and click on the add button. Enter a site descriptor and the IP address of the DVR. You can choose to have the login process be done automatically on connection by adding a username and password. Once the site is registered click OK and then OK again to save the changes you have made in the setup. Now go to the Connect button on the front screen and click. You will see the site listed in the connecting window. Highlight the site and click the Connect button. You will either connect automatically or it will ask you for a username and password. You should see video if the connection was successful. To access the SmartSearch feature, click on the Search button and wait for the search screen to load. A message box will come up with “No recorded dates”, and you can click OK to this message. Now locate and click on the green button marked Remote (between the Local and Backup buttons-middle right side). You will again connect to the DVR (a username and password will be required) and you will see the calendar load the dates. SmartSearch is the same as on the DVR.
