So you installed the wrong Capture version...

Installed the wrong version of the Post software to a Capture PC-based DVR? Capture card not recognised and don't know where to go?

DON'T PANIC!

First, close out to the Windows Desktop from the Capture Shell. From Start, go into Control Panel and uninstall the IDRSeries program in Add/Remove Programs. Not all files are removed in this process, so go to C:, remove the IDR Series folder, and the following files:

Smartguard.slg

Smartguardevent.slg

Guardrec.log

You may also wish to delete the IIBANK folders from each drive, to be rebuilt when the install of the proper version is done.

Once done, go back to Control Panel, then right-click on My Computer to get to the Properties. System Properties comes up - go to the Hardware tab, open up Device Manager. Find the Capture Card references. Right-click their icon(s) to get to those Properties. A tab called Drivers should be available; find the Driver Details, which tells you the name of the driver file and where it is kept. These should be SMARTxxx.VXD files, usually in the System or System32 folders. Jot this path down if you can’t remember it, as these files must be deleted.

Delete each of the card references in Device Manager and the driver ( .vxd ) files. This will encourage WinXP to see the Capture cards as new devices on startup. When this happens, just cancel the request to install drivers (this could happen up to 8 times). Finally, install the proper version of the Capture program, which will automatically load the proper driver set.
